see you on location!

This week, we were given the opportunity to try location recording with a H2 Zoom Recorder.

The aim of the afternoon was to take the Zoom to record unusual sounds and use them to create a sample pack of an instrument.

Myself and my teammate Tinaysha, opted to record household kitchen items to mimic the sound of a drum. Using knifes and forks on coffee mugs and plates, as well as the odd fridge and vending machine door, we took short clips and uploaded them onto Ableton Live.

From there, we messed around with what we had recorded and, with the help of a Youtube tutorial, we had a go at making our own multi-sampler - programming our sounds to play on the same keyboard note depending on the strength of the note when pressed. Once we had achieved this, we set out to create a short beat using these samples. You can listen to what we managed to create below!
